Zacky Manic

Originality and rawness defines today’s rock n’ roll, forming the spirit of small local bands. I have seen the 90s-2000s grunge and punk scene return to the spotlight, sparking a revolution among younger generations. This has led to the rise of new rock bands and the popularity of guitar solos, and there is something so special about watching artists and bands begin their stories. A growing artist, who is now building itself into a band after years of finding the perfect matches, Zacky Manic is in the process of becoming new rock stars.

The band started off as a one-man band; Zacky Manic produced all of the songs for the upcoming album, recorded guitar, bass, and vocals solo, while working with a singular drummer and sometimes a drum machine. Long hours spent in front of a computer surrounded by him and his instruments are now starting to pay off, and a teenage boy’s dream of releasing an album can be marked as his fulfilled destiny.

The music holds raw emotion— emotion that has built over years of loss and addiction. He uses music to cope and songwriting as therapy. The songs are diverse and a tray of different tastes and sounds, which is where the “manic” part comes into play.

Zacky Manic’s album “Mood Swing” is set for release later this summer. The singles “Watch Me Die” and “Butt Rock” are out on all platforms. On Tuesday, April 28th, 88.3 FM WHCM Harper College Radio welcomed the new artist to talk about his story and get a deeper insight of the meanings of his songs.
