88.3FM WHCM Harper College Media is a broadcast radio station and multi-media hub run by the students at Harper College.
We are part of the Liberal Arts Division but we are a campus Student Organization open to all students. Our mission is to create and share great media and experiential learning opportunities for students and the community.
We are a “free form” radio station, meaning that students direct the work of the station and play and produce the music, news, talk, social media and other coverage that matters to them.
We often partner with community members, musicians, civic organizations, national broadcasters and education affiliates for collaborations, internships and other opportunities beyond campus.

What can you do at Harper Radio? These are just a few of the teams you can join:
Host/ DJ: Play the music that matters to you, your genre, beats and show topics, with recorded or live in-studio music, performance, talk, call-in and more.
Editor or Board Operator: Run the board, learn the tech, make things happen in real time and do the work to turn raw audio into beautiful music and meaningful talk and stories.
Producer/ Assistant Producer: Be a show runner, overseeing all aspects of production for your own show or for others, and learn the ropes of producing in multi-media – radio, video, streaming social media – we do it all.
Web / SW Development, automation and programming: Work with our webmaster on designing, improving and expanding our website and database. Tackle Webdereal-time open source broadcast software management/development from SQL to cloud integration,app development, streaming & more.
News and Public Affairs: Interested in Journalism and storytelling? Get great experience by generating original newscasts and stories for the station. We cover on-campus, local and global news, political, entertainment, sports and more with field reporters and producers recording or reporting live. Know of a story worth telling?
Social Media: Work with our Social Media Director to help push Harper Radio content and running our official platforms.
Marketing and Public Relations: We’re a dynamic media presence in the Northern Chicagoland, and with our marketing and PR opportunities the sky’s the limit. Help us tell our story and bring in new students, audiences, sponsors, partners and community members.
Business Administration and Management: WHCM is entrepreneurial in every way from individual shows to the station as a whole. Opportunities abound for business students to take this club and enterprise to the next level, from strategic planning to MIS to office admin and more.
Graphic Designer: Yes, we’re deep into multi-media graphics. From T-Shirts, posters, business cards and websites to Youtube, CGI and audio-visual show design – graphics matter.
Sports Coverage: We have a dedicated sports team that covers regional sports, national sports talk and all the Harper Hawk games of all types that we can.
