It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, for the return of “The Muppet Show!” It has been 50 years since the original “Muppet Show” premiered in 1976, and the new special matches the feel and humor spectacularly.
“The Muppet Show” special released on February 4th on Disney + and ABC. It follows the same variety show format as the original “Muppet Show”. There are musical numbers, skits, backstage shenanigans, and celebrity special guests.

The celebrity guest for this special is singer, songwriter, and actress, Sabrina Carpenter. During the special she shares many interactions with various Muppets, and sings a rendition of her song “Manchild,” as well as Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream” with Kermit and Miss Piggy. The special also features one of its executive producers, actor and comedian Seth Rogen, and Maya Rudolf as key celebrities.
I personally really enjoyed watching this special. I have always loved the Muppets, and I am excited to see more Muppet content coming in the future! I am so glad that they were able to match the tone and humor of the original “Muppet Show.”
This special serves as a pilot for a potential full revival of the series, so I encourage all of you to check it out so they can get that greenlit!

Hi, I’m Meghan! It is my 3rd year at Harper College, and I am the host of “Rainbow Connection,” where I mostly play upbeat music that I feel matches my love for bright colors and personality, as well as one Muppets song each week. There is a lot of variety here on Rainbow Connection, including video game music, movie music, k-pop, Dad Rock, and much more!
As I continue at Harper I am exploring both Computer Science and Graphic Design as possible career opportunities. I love art/creativity and I like to solve problems and so both things can be true with both career paths. I like to hang out with my friends, be it at Harper in a club or two, or at NWSRA where I play Floor Hockey and enjoy Friday fun events.
This semester my show is every Monday from 2 to 3pm, so you hope you tune in for a listen!
