Harper College Radio Station (Again) a Finalist for
Chicago’s Overall Best
How in the world can an unassuming Community College radio station — 88.3FM
WHCM – compete with Chicago radio giants like WXRT (93.1FM) and WBEZ
(91.5FM)?
For the second year in a row, the Chicago Reader has named Harper Radio as a finalist in their “Best of Chicago” online poll. WHCM is one of only seven (7) radio stations to make the final cut for entry in the poll.
The other stations listed (in addition to ‘XRT & ‘BEZ) are Chirp Radio (107.1FM),
Vocalo Radio (91.1FM), Radio DePaul, and WZRD (also at 88.3FM).
Staffed by Harper students, faculty, alumni, and volunteers WHCM is purposely
different with a freeform format and a dedicated commitment to playing local
music. In addition to The Local Music Show featuring the best bands and artists
from around Chicago, Harper Radio spins new music from the community
throughout the day.
The Reader poll is open now through midnight on Sunday, January 14th with the
winners announced in the February 22nd edition of the publication.
